Raising mindful children in a changing world


Whether your 2-year-old is on the verge of a major tantrum, your 10-year-old is frightened about things in the news or your teenager is anxious about an upcoming test, mindfulness can help them cope. Mindfulness can also help parents cope. Experts say recognizing and managing emotions and reducing stress are central to emotional well-being.

1) Help your child identify and name feelings

2) Teach your child to recognize physical cues when stress starts to build

3) Demonstrate and teach self-calming strategies

4) Build mindfulness activities into your daily routines
